The cost of being alive today is expensive. 

From a morsel of food to visiting the doctor, many basic needs have quietly become unaffordable for millions of South Africans. We are talking about basic survival items like bread, baby food, drinking water, and the affordability to see a doctor when one is sick.

Doctors have spent years behind their consultation desk, listening, diagnosing and treating. But increasingly, they have been watching something painful happening in their communities, patients are not showing up like they once did. Not because they have permanently healed, but because they just can’t afford to go in anymore. 

Their patients, the loyal ones that have grown old with them are now turning to overburdened public clinics. They wait for hours, only to receive undignified treatment, and hours later, they are sent away and asked to return early the next morning. Often without being seen, without medication, without answers, just exhaustion and a new queue to face. Mothers with sick children, elders in pain, workers who cannot afford another day off, all left unheard in a system stretched beyond its limits. This is not just inefficiency, it is a quiet injustice happening every day.

Doctors, are people too, so after observing all of this, we asked them, ‘What if they could remove just enough of the cost barrier to change everything? What if their patients could visit them in a way without needing to sacrifice the little money they have left? How could they make everyday healthcare affordable again, without paperwork, without debt, and without shame?’ The answer to these questions is MeshDoc™

MeshDoc is a digital-first platform that allows patients to access discounted GP visits at an affordable rate. No gimmicks, no gatekeepers, no magic, just simple humanity. Doctors keep their dignity, patients keep their health, and a broken part of the system finally starts to heal. We built MeshDoc to restore the relationship between doctor and patient, not through complicated systems, but through empathy, trust, fairness and affordability. We invited doctors to become part of the solution and not just observers of the problem, so MeshDoc brought everyone together.
